The USSSA Baseball MISSISSIPPI 6, 7 & 8 Year Old State Championship

Congratulations on an outstanding season and welcome to the 2012 USSSA 6, 7 & 8 Year Old State Championship.  Your tournament host will be Central MS USSSA and it will be our goal to create an experience that the players, coaches and families will remember for a lifetime. Your USSSA State Director will enter teams in the appropriate age and appropriate division of play. The tournament will be played at Freedom Ridge Park (click here for map link) in Ridgeland, MS. The tournament dates will be June 21 - 24, 2012.

Seeding will be based upon USSSA Points. Format will be - 2 game pool play seeding by USSSA Points with at least the top 50% moving to Single Elimination Championship and the remaining teams going to a single elimination Consolation Championship.

Your team's application (USSSA State Championship Entry Form) and check or money order for the entry fee MUST BE RECEIVED BY YOUR STATE DIRECTOR BY June 15, 2012. The State Director will then forward this material with your official roster, entry form and entry fee to the State Tournament host to guarantee your spot in the tournament. Your entry fee, in the amount of $220.00 for 6 Year olds and $325.00 for 7 and 8 year olds can be paid online at www.USSSA.com or mailed to the USSSA State office at - P.O. Box 428, Southaven, MS 38671. Checks should be made payable to USSSA Baseball.

Your team's Official Roster must be entered on-line at www.USSSA.com and have your State Directors Approval.

All players participating in USSSA Baseball tournament play shall have photocopies of their original birth certificates in the possession of their team manager.  Failure to have a copy of the birth certificate available upon demand will result in the offending team losing the game, being ejected from the tournament, being placed last in the standings and forfeiting all awards, sponsors travel money and tournament berths the would have been awarded at the tournament.

PLAYING RULES:

All playing rules shall be governed by the USSSA Baseball Handbook . In the event of inclement weather; All games would resume at the next possible time after a delay regardless of Tournament Dates. Any team that could not be there for that game would forfeit that game and any other games. No refunds would be allowed for teams choosing not to complete the tournament at the reschedule game time.


Brackets:

Every Effort Will Be made to Release The Brackets By Tuesday June 19, 2012

In order to be able to provide the brackets prior to the State Tournament start date, points earned from the events played the weekend prior to the State Tournament will not be used toward seeding for the State Tournament. State Tournament brackets will be seeded by USSSA points. USSSA point totals will be tabulated on the Friday prior to the start of the State Tournament in order to accurately seed the teams and release the State Championship brackets prior to the start of the event.


NOTE: (Pre-Tournament Meetings & Activities)

Coaches will be able to meet at 9:30 AM Thursday 6/21/2012 at the Freedom Ridge Soccer Pavilion to pick up passes and cover any information they may need to cover, the park will open at 10 to all other participants.  Teams will receive emails prior to games outlining all information as well.


AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED:

A. Team trophies to the first and second place teams
B. Individual awards to the first and second place teams

C. MVP awards will be presented as well

Hotel Information may be obtained at Ridgeland Tourism.

ADMISSION:

During the tournament there will be a gate charge of $5.00 per person per day (10 years old and older). This charge includes everyone except players and team coaches. Each team will receive 3 coach passes. A 4th coach pass may be purchased for $10. A maximum of 4 coach passes will be issued.

Tentative Itinerary:

• Thursday – June 21 – Time TBD State Championship Play Begins
• Friday – June 22 - State Championship Play continues
• Saturday – June 23 - State Championship Play continues / ends
• Sunday – June 24 - State Championship Play ends / Rain Date


USSSA RULES OF CONDUCT:

It is the purpose of USSSA Baseball to conduct the best possible Tournament from all aspects. To achieve this objective USSSA must have the cooperation of each player, manager, coach and sponsor.

We are the guest in the city that the tournament is conducted and nothing should occur that would reflect aversely on your team, players, our host city or USSSA Baseball. Therefore, it is required that all teams in the tournament comply with the following rules:

  1. Team managers must have full control of their players at all times. This means "on" and "off" the field.
  2. In case of disputed play or decision, team managers or captains may consult the game official. The other players and coaches or sponsors are to be kept out of the discussion.
  3. Managers, coaches and players  are not to fraternize with the spectators while on the playing field. At no time will participants be allowed to smoke on the field or in the coaching box.
  4. At no time will participants be allowed to drink or have in their possession any alcoholic beverage while in the dugout, coaching bases or on the playing field during the course of the game.
  5. Managers are to report any un-sportsmanship like conduct or derogatory acts by players or spectators to the tournament director. The purpose here is to prevent any serious situation from developing that would be harmful to the tournament.
  6. Managers, coaches, players, sponsors and teams are liable for the suspension by not adhering to the tournament rules in effect. This could mean suspension for a game, games tournament or a longer duration depending on the act of violation.
  7. A player, coach, manager or sponsor may be suspended for fighting, abusive tactics or unbecoming acts that are detrimental and not in the best interest of USSSA baseball and tournament play.
  8. Be careful of your conduct. Be sure that no actions occurs that could reflect adversely on your sponsor, team or region. Remember that the wrong actions of even one player can reflect upon you team an the game of baseball.
  9. Any report by hotel or motel management, where any team competing in USSSA play is staying, of destruction of property or abuse of hotel or motel property will be dealt with sternly. Team mangers and sponsors will not be warned other than through this notice. Failure to pay hotel or motel bills can result in the team disbarment form future USSSA play.
  10. Any teams submitting bad checks to the USSSA will be subject to disbarment.
